I am a music specialist and the music I write is original, tested on children and for the less confident teacher. My aim is to provide you with everything you need to fulfil Topic requirements and those of the National Curriculum (without having to prepare anything.) I provide Power Points/videos and give you mp3s and lyrics. Notation is sometimes given. The instrumental parts are dead easy!

The wonderful story of the dog and the dolphin who became friends. I have put the web address to the original video but I have included my adapted version in the downloads as the scene when the shark appears is a little frightening for younger viewers I have a also written the soundtrack,. Whatever age, this video captures children’s hearts. It can be used during Assembly or when the children walk in.

The song is intended to be used as part of the study of the Jacobite rebellion or as a song to learn in the folk song genre in music. Our class are studying Great British Battles and we will use the song in that context. Examples of learning objectives are... L.O To use folk music as a historical resource or To recognize the genre of folk music. There are many objectives you could use for this beautiful song. Differentiation - There is an optional harmony I have also put up on the free section of the TES, a PowerPoint presentation about the Battle of Culloden to run in conjunction with the song. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/history-and-music-the-battle-of-culloden-11094798 The resource here contains a video or a self running PowerPoint of the song , a copy of the lyrics and chords plus a vocal mp3 and a backing track. The sunflowers. Poetry. Cross curricular, Creative worksheets. Section seven.

Suitable Ages 6 -8 The presentation is in A4 size, so the worksheets can be printed directly from the PowerPoint. I have included a free song from the musical “The Sunflowers” which could be a starting point. There are 10 different areas in the Sunflower Project. The one here concentrates on poetry. Rhyming words, opposites and comprehension are used in humorous poetry to encourage the child to write their own creations. The sheets can be trimmed easily by the child so that they can be pasted into an A4 booklet. The sunflower Project starts with the sowing of the sunflower seed and follows the observation through until Harvest. Each resource covers a curriculum area. The assumption is that natural science knowledge is absorbed through these various activities.

The idea is - you tell the children you have been given a recording by your friend. He was sitting on the cliff one night, when he heard a strange sound. He recorded it on his phone but can’t understand what the voice is saying. You give out large pieces of paper to groups of 4. Ask them to listen and try and decipher the recording. They will surprise you with their ingenuity! Then next lesson, you play a version of the recording that you have cleaned up on the computer. Is it clearer? What course of action can you take now? Enclosed are the lesson plans for Art, ICT, drama, music and song writing plus the 2 soundscapes. (The sea, an ethereal sound and a disguised voice) This would make a very interesting children’s Assembly piece.

"The Reading Song" Celebrate reading

This catchy song is a good starting point for Book week . It is suitable for non-specialists and those more confident. It has an easy to learn chorus so the children will soon pick it up. It tells the story of a child who reads at night under the duvet with a torch. The verses show the places and characters that are imagined. There is an extension in the form of a harmony for those more confident teachers. It is based on some of the words in the chorus. Basically, it is a run down from C to lower G Provided in the resource - 1. An animated video of the song 2. A PPT version (if you prefer that format) 3. Mp3s of the vocals and backing 4. Lyrics / guitar chords 5. The lead line in notation (Sibelius or Jpeg) 6. The harmony (extension) It’s a walking bass, and its shown in white on the harmony score.
